Crowds turn out for Boxing Day hunt

Tradition is thriving, despite ban on fox hunting

THE TRADITIONAL Boxing Day outing of the Vine and Craven hunt proved a popular spectacle today.

Hosts Charlie and Mary Anne Parker threw open the gallops off Crowle Road in Lambourn.

Supporters enjoyed hot sausage rolls, mince pies and a glass of port as the huntsmen and women, resplendent in red and black, gathered.

Among the hunters today were trainers Harry Dunlop and Jamie Osborne.

Mrs Parker said: "It's a great social event and a wonderful tradition and we're pleased and proud to host it this year."

After a rousing speech from Master of the Hunt Angus Marshall, the horn was sounded and the horses clattered off to the baying of the hounds.
