Cub Scout one of few in England to achieve all 33 badges
The rare honour was achieved by Cameron Gargaro (pictured), aged 10, with the Scout Association headquarters stating that on average only one Cub in the entire country earns the full 33 badges each year.
Cameron earned his final activity badge - the Global Conservation Badge - on a recent family camp held near Andover in October. To mark his achievement, Cameron planted an Oak tree which he had nurtured from an acorn.
He said: “When we went on a Cub trip to the Paralympics in August, I still had to complete one badge. Lots of people stopped and said they couldn't believe how many badges I had on my jumper and it made me very proud.
“The Cub leaders gave me lots of support and were very patient as I showed them all the things I had done.”
He added that his favourite badges were those accomplished learning water sports, athletics, horse riding and Tae kwondo.
Cameron was presented with a certificate, trophy and a signed photograph of chief Scout, Bear Grylls, as well as a personal letter from the Duchess of Cambridge by the Cub Scout district commissioner, Alison Taylor (pictured).
She said: “I was honoured to present Cameron with his very special award. Very few Cub Scouts gain all the badges - only one or two a year from the whole country and we are all very proud of Cameron and the 2nd Newbury Cub Scout team."
