Culture Fest comes to Newbury

The event, which has been organised by West Berkshire Me Forum and will take place at the racecourse between 12-4pm on June 30, will feature dance and music performances, as well as art, crafts and refreshments.
Visitors to the event, which is sponsored by Greenham Common Trust, Sovereign Housing, West Berkshire Council and NHS Berkshire West, will get a chance to join in a number of different workshops, including Scottish dancing.
Chairman of West Berkshire Me Forum, Nadeem Soomro said: “This event provides an accessible platform for local and Berkshire wide groups to promote their work; it also offers an invaluable opportunity for our partners and supporters to engage with a variety of local communities and groups.
“Come along to this free event and absorb the atmosphere and vibrancy it has to offer. Try something new like Scottish dancing, French and British dances or Egyptian belly dancing.
“See the variety of cultural performances including Chinese Lion Dance, percussion drumming with the Drumrunners, street dance, South Indian dance, Gael Music, and Jamaican folk songs.
“Try out a Thai foot massage, or Indian head massage, or have some henna body art. There are lots of hands on activities including fruit smoothie bikes, and Chinese crafts; you can even record your own music and sound.”
