Curtain call for young designers

Get creative and design a theatrical mask for Kennet Opera's Die Fledermaus

Kennet Opera are looking for someone to design a mask for the party of the year...

The local opera company are performing Die Fledermaus at the Corn Exchange, Newbury, from November 17 to 19 and one of the main characters, Rosalinda, needs to attend a party without being recognised. Can you design a mask?

It must cover her face but not her mouth and must be able to be tied to her head rather than held.

The opera is set in modern times, which means that the mask can be as modern as you can imagine.

The winner of the competition will have their mask worn onstage, a photograph of the design in performance and a visit to the theatre during the run.

The runner-up designs will be displayed at the Corn Exchange during show week.

To enter, you can submit your designs at the Corn Exchange in the week beginning October 31. The deadline for the masks is November 4.

If you need to arrange an alternative drop off or have any questions, please contact the director, Rowena Robinson at uilos@hotmail.com
