Cyclists are being warned of potential fines they can receive if they are not obeying the Highway Code.

Thames Valley Police says it wants to give guidance about potential offences, while also encouraging people to wear a helmet and high visibility clothing as the darker evenings arrive.

Cyclists could be fined £50 if police catch them breaching the Highway Code. Offences include riding on the pavement and riding without lights

Anyone riding a bike could receive a £50 fine if they are on a pavement or footway, carrying more than one person, or not obeying traffic signs and road markings.

The same fine could be issued for a cyclist who does not have lights fitted on their bike, or if they have failed to switch them on when needed.
