Dance acts DJ Fresh and Danny Howard set to perform at Party in the Paddock

DJ's looking forward to raving it up at Newbury Racecourse this weekend

NEWBURY Racecourse's Party in the Paddock will be the place to be this weekend with two of the biggest names in dance music determined to make this year's event a party to remember.

The annual concert has pulled in the likes of Rita Ora, Calvin Harris and Lionel Ritchie in recent years with crowds partying well into the night following a day at the races.

Saturday will see acclaimed DJ acts Danny Howard and DJ Fresh performing in front of thousands of people with both artists looking forward to playing at a race course for the first time.

Danny Howard, who also fronts BBC Radio 1's Dance Anthems show, said: "I'm really looking forward to it.
"I did a bit of research and it looks incredible playing a set at the races its an usual in the DJ world.

"I've never actually been to the races which is a bit shameful being from the north but I'm looking forward to enjoying the day there and taking it all in.

"It makes perfect sense to play there though because everyone's there for the races and having a good day and then after the races what do people want to do?

"Do they want to go home or do they want to party - and by the looks of things at Newbury they want to party."

DJ Fresh agreed saying: "I haven't played a racecourse gig before, but I grew up around horses as my dad plays polo and my mum also used to ride.

"I don't know what to expect at Newbury but I am really looking forward to it.

"I am a bit worried about what the horses will think of it all but hopefully they will all be tucked up in bed by then.

The drum 'n' bass DJ who has enjoyed over two million record sales and two UK number one singles added: "I am also looking forward to catching a race or two at Newbury.

"I am not really a gambler, so I might just gamble in my head rather than putting down a wager."

The first of the seven races is scheduled at 1.25pm, with the last race due off at 4.55pm.

The DJ sets are due to commence at 5.30pm with gates opening at 11.30am.
