Daughter of IRA blast victim to address Peace forum




Historic visit to Newbury

THE daughter of a fatal IRA bomb blast victim is coming to Newbury to address the West Berkshire Peace and Integration Forum.

On the same occasion, television anchor Musharraf Hussaini will speak on reconciling the followers of the Shia and Sunni branches of Islam.

Jo Berry is the daughter of Sir Anthony Berry MP, who was killed in the IRA Brighton bombing during the 1984 Tory Party Conference.

In November 2000 she met Patrick Magee, the former IRA activist responsible for her father’s death who was given multiple life sentences but was released under the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.

Since their meeting he has supported Ms Berry in her work with her charity Building Bridges for Peace.

Mr Hussaini is a presenter with Ahle Bait TV UK who has been championing the cause of bringing Shias and Sunnis together and working for harmony and reconciliation between different religions.

The event, entitled How Do I Overcome...? is described as an evening of relaxed discussion, reflection and networking.

People from all faiths and backgrounds are invited to attend and listen and to compare notes on personal transformation.

It takes place at 5pm on Sunday, May 31, at the Fair Close Day Centre in Newtown Road, Newbury.
