David Harman installed as mayor of Newbury

The torch has been passed at Newbury’s mayor making 2025 ceremony.

David Harman was installed into the ancient office on Sunday, May 11.

He succeeds outgoing mayor Andy Moore.

The event took place in the town hall, with entertainment from MelodiX, featuring pupils at the town’s Trinity School.

MelodiX is a small vocal ensemble comprising some of the school’s most talented singers from Years 7 and 8.

Sarah Slack was elected deputy mayor.

Following the ceremony, there was a traditional civic procession from the town hall to St Nicolas’ Church, followed by a buffet lunch.
