Deadline day to comment on Shaw/Donnington proposed highways improvements

West Berkshire Council has written to residents in these areas this month (January) informing them of proposals to carry out the work, including removal of speed humps along Love Lane - where there are three schools, including Trinity, Castle and Shaw-Cum-Donnington primary - and installation of further build outs with vehicle priority.
The scheme involves the permanent removal of the raised plateau at the Love Lane/Kingsley Close junction, together with removal of all speed cushions.
It is proposed to retain the exisiting build outs with vehicle priority, with additional build outs on Love Lane east of the Kingsley Close junction, east of the Northern Avenue and East of Donnington Park junctions.
A new traffic island and localised road narrowing on Love Lane east of the Trinity school junction is proposed to slow traffic and assist pedestrians crossing the road - also used by those accessing the Vodafone headquarters in Shaw.
Care has been taken that existing vehicular access to properties will not be affected, according to the council.
The council has written to residents in Love Lane, Kingsley Close, Owen Road, Donnington Park, Northern Avenue, Dene Way, Stable Court and Shaw Farm Road informing them of the proposals and including a plan.
A plan can be viewed between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday at West Berkshire Council’s offices in Market Street, or on the council’s website westberks.gov.uk.
