Deadmans Lane closed due to sparking powerline

A fire crew from Hungerford attended the scene at about 3.07pm and Thames Valley Police have now closed the road to allow Southern Electric to deal with the problem with the overhead cable.
Duncan Macdonald from Southern Electric said that they received reports from members of the public that an overhead powerline was sparking, which indicted that a fuse had blown.
As a result of the blown fuse, the power is out to several houses in the surrounding Greenham area.
Mr Macdonald said that engineers were currently on the scene and that their main priority was to get the power back on as soon as possible.
