It was announced earlier in the year that the two fire services would combine in a new purpose-built control room to handle emergency calls and to dispatch fire engines.
The Chief Fire Officer for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Iain Cox, said that Calcot had been chosen because there was space for a new building which could house brand new, up to date equipment.
The proposals will be considered by members of Oxfordshire County Council's Cabinet and the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority tomorrow night (Tues).
