Dedicated hotline for flood victims at Citizens Advice Bureau

Additional resources will be made available at the CAB to offer help, advice and support to help residents get back on their feet after storm and flooding caused damage to numerous properties in the district, forcing many to leave their homes.
Launched yesterday (Monday), the CAB is able to offer the service due to funding that has been made available from central Government.
It will be available until the end of April.
The hotline number is (01635) 516602, and an answerphone will be available for when it is busy or the office is closed.
The chief executive of the West Berkshire CAB, Jan Rothwell, said: “Even after the water recedes, the impact of flooding can last for years.
“We know from first-hand experience that helping people get over a crisis like this is a long-term commitment.
“We’ll be helping residents to sort out issues such as housing, problems at work and with welfare benefits to ensure that everyone in our community can fully recover from this setback.”
The chief executive of the CAB nationally, Gillian Guy, added: ““As we saw first-hand with the storms in 2007, flooding has enormous knock-on effects.
“Damage to homes creates upheaval, wrecked transport links prevent people getting to work and problems with insurance policies can lead to long-term financial stress.
“People bearing the brunt of flood damage need responsive, tailored support and I’m pleased Government has recognised that Citizens Advice Bureaux are well-placed to deliver this help to shell-shocked communities.
“News of flooding may soon ebb away from the front pages but Citizens Advice Bureaux have been embedded in communities across the country for 75 years.
“This welcome boost will allow our army of volunteers to deliver vital support directly to people facing extreme stress and anxiety.”
