Defibrillator deployment is delayed

An automated external defibrillator, which can restart the heart following a cardiac arrest, was due to be installed next to the recently restored well in the village last week.
However due to the extent of flooding, this could not go ahead as the necessary electricity supply could not be installed.
Rather than postponing the project entirely, members of the Hampstead Norreys Parish Plan committee are exploring whether a temporary electricity supply could be installed at that location until flooding subsides.
Information cards, funded through sponsorship from local businesses including Andresa Aesthetics, Mark Kemp Hair Gallery and The White Hart Inn, have been delivered to all households in the parish so residents know how to respond in the event of an emergency once the defibrillator is available.
A community awareness session is also being held tonight in the Hampstead Norreys Village Hall at 7.30pm.
It will be led by South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) representative David Hamer, who will demonstrate how the device works and answer questions from residents.
Grants secured by the parish plan from West Berkshire Council, which provided £1,725, and Hampstead Norreys Parish Council, which provided £250, allowed the purchase of the defibrillator.
