Delays for Newbury motorists

Off-peak roadworks on a northbound stretch of the A339 has caused delays for Newbury's motorists today (Tuesday)

NEWBURY'S motorists have been delayed by road works on a northbound stretch of the A339 this afternoon (Tuesday).

One northbound lane of the A339 near the Robin Hood roundabout was blocked off earlier today as three lorries were parked near Victoria Park, causing queues across town for the motorists through the lunch time rush hour.

West Berkshire Council spokesman, Phil Spray, said the off-peak roadworks were to reset manhole covers in the road, adding that a lane closure was essential to do this safely.

He said the work had to be completed by 4.30pm.
