Delays on A34 near Newbury

Update: The lanes have reopened.

One lane in both directions of the A34 between the A339 and A4 junctions is closed due to an accident.

There are currently delays of 20 minutes and increasing.

The incident will worsen delays on roads around Newbury after the M4 was closed in both directions between Hungerford and Chieveley for structural works.

Traffic is backing up along the M4 westbound between junction 13 for Chieveley and junction 12 for Theale, as well as the A34 as drivers follow the diversion.

The incident is expected to clear between 3pm and 3.15pm.
