The work of removing the central island is expected to take three to four days.

Residents are encouraged to find alternative travelling routes where possible.

The council’s active travel scheme to help West Berkshire residents walk and cycle more by introducing more walking and cycling opportunities throughout the district.

Work on the A4 involves reducing the width of the carriageway to provide space for segregated cycle tracks, widening crossing islands for dual usage and removing the staggered crossing island.
