Depot celebrates staff for 20 years of loyalty

A depot in Thatcham has celebrated 20 years of hard work.

The GXO distribution centre, which supplies pubs and clubs with alcoholic beverages, turned 20 this month.

Centre manager James Howarth has celebrated members of the team who have offered two decades of service.

Mr Howarth, who has also been with the organisation for 20 years, said the team has stuck together through the highs and lows.

They worked through the 2007 Thatcham floods and credit crunch but were also around to enjoy summers – which are busy periods for the business – and many sporting tournaments, including World Cups.

He said: “Those guys sum up what we are all about.

“Twenty years at the same site screams loyalty. To be recognised and acknowledged for a length of service that long was very humbling and special, it was a real sense of achievement.

“You wouldn’t want other people next to you, they genuinely are the ones you can rely on all day, every day, consistently.”

The team all celebrated with cake and gifts, starting with the early shift crew, followed by the evening and night crews.
