In pictures: Newbury’s Art on The Park
Good weather and encouragement from Newbury’s resplendent Town Crier Brian Sylvester encouraged a steady stream of visitors to the Victoria Park Nursery railings on Sunday for the last Art on the Park event of this year.
A diverse mix of art works from local artists was on view and available to purchase at often very reasonable prices.
Subject matter included animal and bird portraits, landscapes in watercolour, oil and mixed media together with still life drawings and prints.
A number of exhibitors were familiar to Newbury art lovers as they take part in Open Studios or Newbury Art Group events, like ceramicist Martin Eastabrook displayed both functional and decorative items on his stall.
Deputy mayor Andy Moore attended the event, which began at 10am.
Organisers – a committee made up from representatives from Newbury Town Council, Newbury Art Group, Newbury District Arts Association, City Arts and individual artists – were pleased with the positive feedback from both visitors and exhibitors. People enjoyed the variety of work on display and the fact that all ages took part as both exhibitors and viewers. This free, inclusive event is always a great opportunity for inspiration and exchange of ideas and a celebration of some of the talent in and around Newbury.
Art on the Park expects to plan two events next year so if you missed either of this year’s dates, watch out for 2024 in the pages of NWN, artontheparknewbury@gmail.com or on the NDAA Arts Board in Northbrook Street.
