Diesel spillage closes A34 northbound




A large diesel spillage has closed a section of the northbound carriageway on the A34 in Hampshire.

The A34 is closed northbound between the A303 (Bullington) and the B4640 (Whitchurch).

The event is expected to clear between 6.30pm and 6.45pm later this evening.

Hampshire Police are in attendance alongside National Highways traffic officers who are assisting with traffic management.

Specialist contractors will also be attending to assist with clear-up works.

National Highways has established the following diversion route: Exit the A34 northbound at the A303 Bullington junction, use the first exit at the roundabout and join the A303 westbound, continue for five miles towards Andover, leave the A303 at the Picket Twenty interchange, join the A3093 and continue straight over the next two roundabouts to the A343 roundabout (Newbury Road), use the third exit at the roundabout and join the A343, continue for 14 miles to the A34 Wash Common interchange and at the T-junction, turn left to re-join the A34 northbound.
