Digitall is doing it all as it picks up 9 charity award nominations
Digitall, a West Berkshire-based charity, has been nominated for nine awards, across three upcoming events, writes Bethany Sirianni.
Based in Newbury but with a global reach, digitall works to equip learners with the digital skills needed to tackle real world challenges and the confidence to see themselves in green, tech-driven futures.
Through initiatives like Coding for Climate Action and EcoCode, young people design and build practical tech solutions – from flood warning systems to solar-powered irrigation.
It also provides training for teachers and community leaders to ensure a long-term impact beyond the charity’s direct delivery.
Peter Marshman, CEO of digitall, and Derek Peaple, charity chairman, are delighted by the recognition but it is the process of getting children to enjoy computing and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects that drives them above all else.
Mr Marshman explained: “It’s not just about giving them the skills but helping them to understand why these skills are important and encouraging them to see the impact of their actions when building items such as early weather warning systems for developing countries."
The charity has been nominated in the Third Sector Awards for small charity of the year; small charity big achiever; corporate partnership of the year for coding for climate action with Amazon; and Mr Peaple is nominated for charity chair of the year.
In the Charity Times Awards, it has been similarly nominated for small charity of the year; corporate national partnership with a retailer; and Mr Peaple is once again nominated for charity chair.
In the Global Good Awards, it is nominated in two sections; educational excellence and climate for good.
The awards ceremonies will all take place over the course of September, so it will be a busy month for the charity and one full of celebrations.
Digitall was named Charity of the Year in this year’s Newbury Weekly News Best in Business Awards, which were held Newbury Racecourse in April.
