All equipment will have to be retuned as BBC 2 is switched over in first phase

THE first phase of West Berkshire's digital television switchover was due to occur in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

The first phase sees BBC 2 signal swiched over from analogue.

Digital UK's regional Manager, Bill Taylor, said ahead of the event that he was sure it would go off without a glitch.

“Technically, everything will run smoothly,” he said, “and we believe most people already have the correct equipment in place in at least one television in their home.”

The remaining channels will switch over on February 22.

Everyone must retune their equipment to receive the new signal.

For more information, visit Newbury Library in the Wharf, where Digital UK has an information stall.
