Disability group holds personal budget meeting today (Friday)

The West Berkshire Independent Living Network will host the meeting at the Thatcham Memorial Hall in Bath Road at 4pm.
The group has called the meeting to better understand how users are coping with the change brought in by West Berkshire Council in an effort to reduce the costs of its adult social care department.
Those in need were put through an examination and then issued personal budgets of varying levels to pay for their own care.
The move sparked outrage and protests when day centres were closed as a result of the changes.
Further meetings are planned around West Berkshire to be held in Newbury, Hungerford, Theale and Calcot.
