Dispersal order imposed on Lambourn
The order follows reports of anti-social behaviour within the vicinity of the Market Place Lambourn and concerns from both residents and businesses that they were experiencing unacceptable levels of anti-social behaviour.
The Lambourn Dispersal Order will run from Wednesday, July 24 until Friday, January 24 and will cover the vicinity of the Market Square.
Thames Valley Police West Berkshire Area Commander, Supt Robin Rickard, said: “Dispersal orders are a serious step which is carefully thought through following wide consultation with the local community to understand the anti-social behaviour that they are suffering.
"The order in Lambourn is a direct response to concerns and complaints made by people who live, work and socialise in Lambourn; it is clear from the complaints received that a small number of individual’s very poor behaviour is negatively impacting on a large number of people in Lambourn and it is right that the police work with the local community to combat anti social behaviour.”
The Dispersal Order has the support of Lambourn Parish Council and the West Berkshire Council ward members for Lambourn and was implemented by Thames Valley Police and the district council.
The order gives police officer or police community support officers the power to disperse groups when they have reasonable grounds to believe the presence or behaviour of a group of two or more persons, is likely to be intimidating, harass, alarm or distress members of the public.
