Thames Valley Police said the Section 34 order was enacted after “a number of public order incidents in Newbury today (Sunday)”.

The order will remain in place until 2am tomorrow (Monday).

It covers the shaded areas on the map above in Newbury town centre, including Bartholomew Street, Northbrook Street, Oddfellows Road, Station Road, Strawberry Hill, London Road, the A339, Parkway and Victoria Park.

The Section 34 order means that police can disperse any person or groups causing a public disorder or nuisance in that area.

“Anybody dispersed under this order is liable to arrest should they refuse to comply with the order or return to the area while the order is in place,” police said.
