Disrupted London to Reading rail service continues

Derailed train near Paddington causes problems

The train was automatically derailed after passing the red signal outside Paddington.

According to a Great Western Railway statement, the derailment of an empty train outside Paddington yesterday (Thurs) evening caused significant disruption to train services.

"Some of the overhead line equipment has been damaged and is currently being assessed by Network Rail engineers; however trains are currently only able to access four of the six lines into and out of Paddington Station," stated the company.

"At the moment, we expect to be able to run around half our normal service into and out of Paddington on Friday 17th June. We hope this will improve as further progress is made and we would ask customers to check before travel and only travel if absolutely necessary."
