District council steps in to run Enborne Parish Council
The district council held a special meeting last week as the parish council had not met in more than six months, meaning that it ceased to exist.
Until council meetings are back up and running, the district council’s chief executive, Nick Carter (pictured) will chair the meetings. He will be joined on the parish council by district councillors and officers.
Mr Carter said that he saw the current situation as a short-term plan and wants to encourage residents to take over as soon as possible.
He said: “It’s a rather unusual circumstance to have the district council running the parish council. Running the parish council should be with the residents of Enborne.”
The next parish council meeting takes place on Monday, September 16, at Enborne Primary School.
