Wedding photo find sparks hunt for 1920s’ bride
Do you know who this blushing bride is? asks Grace Clift.
This lovely mounted photograph of a wedding party has languished in a loft for many years, but unfortunately no-one knows who the special couple are.
And now a history society is asking the public to come forward if they recognise them?
The back of the image has nothing written on it, but it is believed that it is originally from the Newbury area.
The groom is wearing a Silver War Badge, which was first issued in 1916 to service personnel who had been honourably discharged.
These honourable discharges were due to wound, illness or old age, between 1914 and 1919.
Kingsclere Local Historical Association said they believe this would date the photo as sometime during the 1920s.
The image was brought to the attention of the association, which aims to research and record the history of Kingsclere.
Members work closely with the Hampshire Record Office to create a record of source materials, and hold exhibitions and forums.
It also invites speakers in to talk to members. Last year, they had talks on the Rev Charles Butler, the production of glass and the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton railway.

Membership costs £10 and is available throughout the year.
