Dog attacks man in West Berkshire woods
Police officers seek more information after a man was bitten by a greyhound at the weekend
A 50-YEAR-OLD man was attacked by a dog as he cycled through Sulham Woods with his children on Sunday (September 11).
At about 5.50pm the man was cycling with his two children, when two unleashed greyhound dogs ran past him.
One of them bit him on the leg.
The dog that attacked him was brown and white and the other was black and white.
The cyclist sustained four puncture wounds to his left calf and required medical treatment at the West Berkshire Community Hospital.
Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity and can help identify the dogs' owner to come forward.
He has been described as a white man, aged between 40 and 50, with grey hair and was wearing rectangular framed glasses, a light blue short sleeved T-shirt and black denim jeans.
He spoke with the cyclist following the incident and did apologise to him.
PC Nathan Adby, from Newbury police station, said: “This could have been a nasty incident especially with young children in the area. Luckily, the victim was not more seriously injured.
“I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or if they remember meeting a dog walker and dogs that fit the above description to contact police.”
