Firefighters initially feared a person was inside.
The blaze broke out in the building near St Gabriels School on the A339 at 11am.
Firefighters from Dee Road Fire Station took one hour to extinguish the flames.
Crewman Mat Clark from White Watch said: "The shed in a yard was well alight and there were initial fears that a vagrant was trapped inside.
"That turned out to be incorrect but unfortunately we found the remains of a dog. There was no sign of the vagrant."
