Dog gets dressed up to the canines for Crufts
Among those making tracks for the four-day show at the NEC in Birmingham, which ends on Sunday, are Brightwalton villager Adrian Hollister, and his three-year-old Finnish Lapphund, Rauhan, who has been entered in the Post Grad Dog category – a class in which he was placed second last year.
Keen on Downland walks, the young dog already has a string of first and top three places, including Best Puppy in Breed 2009 in Welks and Southern Counties (Newbury) and First Junior Dog at the Finnish Lapphund Club 2009, but his four-legged antics have proved to be at odds with his name.
Mr Hollister said: “Rauhan is Finnish for peace and, despite his name, he is very noisy when excited, and full of energy. He is completely soppy and [my four daughters] refer to him as ‘posh dog’ as he doesn’t like getting dirty.”
