Dog of the week
Newburytoday hopes to help Dogs Trust Newbury to try to find a home for Scooby
THIS week Dogs Trust Newbury is appealing for a home for 13 month-old Welsh Foxhound Scooby.
Jenny Hopkins, assistant manager at Dogs Trust Newbury, said: “Scooby has been a big hit with everyone at the centre and his big cuddly and dopey expression has seen him make lots of friends.
“As he sometimes forgets how big he is when he's in the midst of playtime he would be best with teenage children who can endure a good energetic game of fetch with him.
“A typical hound, Scooby enjoys companionship so needs a fellow four-legged friend to spend the day with and to keep him occupied.”
She added: “Ideally this bouncy boy's new home will have a large secure garden and be close to an enclosed, large open space where he can run free and feel the wind in his hair, which will help him to use up any extra energy. He has already grasped the basics so classes to work on the next steps would be a great for him and it'll help the bonding with his new family. When not exerting his energy he loves nothing better than enjoying some food, he loves treats (Scooby snacks) and chewy bones – both of which will act as great incentives during the training.
“A big softy at heart, Scooby loves his cuddles and his big droopy eyes make you fall in love instantly. He would provide a burst of energy to any lucky home and what's more his zest for exercise will help anyone still trying to lose those extra post-Christmas pounds. Who needs a gym membership when you could get an adorable four-legged friend like Scooby?”
