Dog of the Week

Assistant manager at Dogs Trust Newbury, Jenny Hopkins, said: “All good things come in small packages and two-year-old Spaniel cross, Smarty, is no exception.
“Smarty is a real ladies’ man and has been enjoying the bundles of fuss he’s received from his carers, but he’s itching to be out of kennels and in a comfortable home.
“True to his breed, he has a Spaniel spring in his step, so would suit an active home, preferably with owners who already have another female dog, who can help him adjust more quickly.
“He’s a very affectionate boy and a sponge for attention, particularly whilst sat on your lap.
“He’s as good as gold and enjoys working for a treat.
“Smarty came to us as a stray but he must have been a loved family pet at some point as he has a charming nature, though his experience has left him a little timid so a few visits will be required before he can trot off to his new home.
“With a little encouragement and a steady routine, he’ll settle in no time at all.”
