D'oh! Drunk reveller complains to police

......and gets himself arrested

A DRUNKEN reveller was so indignant about being refused entry to a club that he complained to police.

It was not 22-year-old Konrad Ebert’s finest hour – for he ended up under arrest, Newbury magistrates heard on Thursday, September 17.

Lesley Gilmore, prosecuting, said: “Officers patrolling Newbury town centre were approached at around 11.45pm by this defendant, who was unhappy about being refused entry to a nightclub.

“They explained management had the right to refuse entry.

“But later door staff at the same club called police because they were having trouble with him.”

Mr Ebert, of McKenzie Court, Newbury, was immediately abusive and aggressive to officers, who issued him with a Section 35 notice, excluding him from the area for 24 hours, the court heard.

Despite this, said Ms Gilmore, Mr Ebert was spotted 40 minutes later outside the nearby Document House bar and arrested.

Mr Ebert admitted failing to comply with the exclusion notice on August 30.

Representing himself, Mr Ebert said: “I was drunk, I know, and abusive.”

Magistrates imposed a six-month conditional discharge.

In addition he was ordered to pay a £150 criminal courts charge plus £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
