Donation from Berkshire Community Foundation means children’s charity Swings & Smiles can keep its heating and lights on

A special needs charity will be able to keep its heating and lights on thanks to a charity donation.

Swings & Smiles on Lower Way, Thatcham, has been affected by the increase in energy prices over the past few years.

But a sizeable donation from Berkshire Community Foundation means it will be able to keep its lights and heating on for a while longer.

This means children, their families and other service users will continue to have a warm, safe place to play and take respite.

Berkshire Community Foundation, which supports community-based organisations who help the most disadvantaged in the community, donated £2,500.

This is an addition to a £2,500 grant made in November last year – also for energy costs.

Swings & Smiles CEO Rhonda Nicklin said: “The support of the Berkshire Community Foundation this past year has been significant to the charity, enabling us to open our doors throughout the coldest days whilst still providing a warm welcome to our families.”
