Double joy for Nicky Henderson in Cheltenham Gold Cup
Henderson’s horse, Bobs Worth, ridden by jockey Barry Geraghty romped to victory in a closely fought battle with Seven Barrows stable mate 2011 winner Long Run, ridden by Sam Waley-Cohen, who came in third.
Bobs Worth won the three-way battle which saw it beat Sir Des Champs ridden by Lambourn champion jockey, A.P McCoy.
Speaking after the race, Henderson told reporters: “Everyone has done a hell of a job.
“Bob's Run hasn't run since the Hennessy and Long Run hasn't run until the King George so it's all down to the team at home.
“They've all been absolutely brilliant in putting up with me."
A delighted Barry Geraghty says: "He's a great attitude, he struggled on the ground but he kept fighting.
"I was hunting and I knew coming into the second last I would win.
"He's as game as a lion and he loves the job.”
