Double success for Nomads
NODA recognises top talents of two local actors
Two Newbury actors have scooped prestigious awards at the annual London regional meeting of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association(NODA).
Nominees Jon Lovell and Jeanette Maskell of Nomads musical theatre both won their respective categories at the ceremony, which was held at The Wyllyotts Theatre, Potters Bar,on Sunday, September 18.
Jon was awarded the Ken Wirdnam Trophy for Best Male Character in a Musical for his performance as Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in Nomads' hugely successful Jekyll & Hyde at the Corn Exchange, Newbury, last October.
Jeanette was presented with the Flame Award for “inspirational contribution to the pursuit of excellence in theatre”, an accolade of her remarkable dedication and commitment since forming Nomads with her sister Wendy in 1974.
Both Jon and Jeanette will be appearing in Nomads' next production, the Newbury première of the Madness musical Our House, which runs from Wednesday, October 5 to Saturday, October 8, at the Corn Exchange.
