Downs Syndrome children enjoy week-long cycling club

The club, held at Speenhamland Primary School, was organised by West Berkshire Council cycling co-ordinator Caroline Lane and by Alison Crawford and was staffed by volunteers.
The children, aged five to 17 years, were encouraged to develop their balance and co-ordination on a bike by trying a range of activities with one-to-one support.
West Berkshire’s executive councillor for children and young people, Irene Neill (Con, Aldermaston) said: "It is wonderful for these families to be able to have this opportunity to enjoy these activities and learn together.
“The achievements of children with Downs Syndrome may take a little longer to gain but the end result is just as important to them and their families. Well done to all those who participated."
Local bike shop, Banjo, lent bikes to those children who didn’t have one.
