Downton Abbey fans given chance to stay the night at Highclere Castle

An online auction, held by Christie’s, will offer people the rare opportunity to stay at the castle – the iconic setting for the hit ITV show.
People will be invited to bid on the chance for three couples to stay with cocktails and dinner before sleeping in the quarters used in the programme by Lady Sybil, Lady Edith and Lady Cora.
Also up for grabs is a tour of the State Rooms and lessons in laying the table by Highclere’s butlers, a cooking lesson in the Highclere kitchen from the chef and a three-course meal with champagne.
The online ‘Heroes At Highclere’ auction will continue until August 14.
All funds raised from the sale will be in aid of Armed Forces charities and coincides with commemoration of the centenary of the start of the First World War.
