Draft plans for 450 Sandleford homes to go on display
Developer's proposal includes primarys chool, care facility and new play area
DRAFT plans for up to 450 homes, a new primary school and an indoor play facility at Sandleford Park will go on public display for the first time next month.
A total of 2,000 homes could be built at the site off Monks Lane, south Newbury, over the next 14 years – a project that will see two developers working together.
One of the developers, Bloor Homes Southern, has already submitted its two applications – a ‘masterplan’ for the entire site as well as detailed plans for the first phase of the project for 337 homes.
Now, Newbury-based firm Donnington New Homes has drafted its own plans for the section of land it owns and will host a consultation event before the proposals are submitted to West Berkshire Council for consideration.
Its proposal includes 450 homes, a new primary school opposite Park House School, a children’s drop-off parking facility and an indoor play facility for the Swings and Smiles charity.
Also in the plans is a 60-bed extra care facility, an access road from Warren Road and emergency access via Kendrick Road, as well as pedestrian and cycle links.
Sandleford Park, if approved, will pave way for West Berkshire’s largest residential development.
As well as providing 2,000 new homes – 40 per cent of which will be affordable – two primary schools and a 415-acre country park will also be built.
Four access roads into the development are currently being proposed – two from Monks Lane, one from the A339 and another from Warren Road.
The public consultation event will be held at Newbury Rugby Club, Monks Lane, from 3pm to 8pm on Thursday, July 7.
Representatives from WYG Planning and Donnington New Homes will be available on the day to discuss the proposals and answer questions.
