Drink-drive community stalwart's loophole bid

A COMMUNITY stalwart involved in an horrific, head-on smash tried to avoid a drink- driving conviction via a legal loophole.
Neil Thomas Dignan accepted he had drunk nearly four times the limit before the devastating collision.
But on Thursday, April 9, he tried to persuade magistrates that an experienced road traffic officer had used the wrong form of words when informing him of his rights – and that, therefore, he should be acquitted.
