Newbury drink-driver Robert Cox drank more than twice legal limit




A MOTORIST was caught behind the wheel after drinking more than twice the legal limit.

Robert Cox appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 12.

The 33-year-old, of Overbridge Square, Newbury, admitted driving a Mini One at Graces Lane, Chieveley, on Sunday, August 27, after drinking more than the legal limit.

Tests showed 84mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

The legal limit is 35mcg.

Mr Cox, who was legally represented at the hearing by Paul Gilmartin, was fined £633.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £253.

Finally, Mr Cox was banned from driving for 20 months.
