Burghfield Common Drink-driver James Spencer took car without consent and crashed it
A DRINK-driver crashed a car into another vehicle and damaged street furniture.
To make matters worse, James Spencer had no insurance or valid driving licence, Reading magistrates heard on Wednesday, November 1.
And he had taken the vehicle without the owner’s permission.
The 27-year-old, of Three Firs Way, Burghfield Common, admitted taking a Vauxhall Insignia without the owner’s consent.
The court heard the offence was aggravated by the fact that, before it was recovered, Mr Spencer had damaged it by crashing into another vehicle and street furniture.
He also admitted driving after drinking more than three times the legal limit.
Tests showed 119mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.
The legal limit is 35mcg.
Mr Spencer also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving without a valid licence on the same occasion.
All the offences were committed in Vastern Road, Reading, on Sunday, October 1.
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports.
They ordered these to be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.
Mr Spencer was meanwhile granted unconditional bail.
