The 55-year-old, of Abbots Road, Newbury, admitted driving a black BMW X1 on Mill Lane, Newbury, last November 28, after drinking more than the legal limit.

Tests showed 114mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

The legal limit is 35mcg.

Magistrates adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.

They stipulated this should be done on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.

Sayer, who was legally represented by Gianpaolo Damiani, was meanwhile released on unconditional bail and made subject to an interim driving ban.
