Drive safely in fog advice after 2 cars flip in 24 hours
M4 Hungerford/Swindon incident followed by another near Lilley
FIREFIGHTERS have advised drivers to take care driving in fog, after two separate incidents of a car landed on its side in the last 24 hours.
The two incidents include one last night (Wed) on the M4 between Hungerford and Swindon and another this morning (Thurs) near Lilley.
At 6.45pm last night, two pumps from Newbury and another from Wiltshire were called to the M4 westbound between junctions 14 (Hungerford) and 15 (Swindon east).
A collision involving two vehicles had resulted in one car ending up on its side, on the hard shoulder.
No-one was trapped.
The occupants of the cars were unhurt according to firefighters, with ambulance services at the scene and one lane of the carriageway closed during the incident.
Firefighters left the scene at 7.15pm.
Then at around 7.15am today, both Newbury pumps were again called out, to Catmore Road, near the West Berkshire village of Lilley, to a single vehicle accident, where another car was discovered on its side.
No-one was trapped, with the occupants described as 'walking wounded' by firefighters, with cuts and bruises.
They were taken to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford by ambulance for checks.
The road was closed for around an hour.
Firefighters left the scene at 8.15pm.
