At a previous hearing the 28-year-old, of Great Crescent, Newbury, had denied driving a Volkswagen Touran carelessly, thereby causing serious injury to Melvin Czapalski, on Western Avenue, Newbury, on May 5 last year.

However, he changed his plea to guilty at the latest hearing.

Mildenhall, who was legally represented by Michael Phillips, was made subject to a 12-month community order and required to complete 90 hours of unpaid community work.

In addition, he was ordered to pay £120 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £114.

Finally, Mildenhall was banned from driving for 12 months.
