Reading Crown Court: Thatcham driver denies fleeing crash scene

A MOTORIST has been charged with fleeing a crash scene and failing to report it to police.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates' Court on Monday, April 11, was Callum Fitzgerald.

The 23-year-old, of Elmhurst Road, Thatcham, denies both charges.

Specifically, Mr Fitzgerald is accused of being the driver of a BMW 118, owing to the presence of which on the A4 Bath Road's junction with Henwick Lane near Thatcham on September 30 last year, an accident occurred whereby damage was caused to a building and wall, and failing to report it to police within 24 hours as required by law.

He is further accused of failing to stop after the accident.

Mr Fitzgerland, who was legally represented by Mike Davis, spoke only to confirm his details and to deny both charges.

He was told the case could proceed no further that day and both matters were adjourned for a trial to be arranged.

Mr Fitzgerland was meanwhile granted unconditional bail.
