Crews from Dee Road and Caversham Road were called just after 1pm, following reports of a collision outside the The Bull public house.
Crew manager Gareth Evans said that a Mazda and a Range Rover had collided head on right outside the pub, with the driver of the Mazda having to be cut out of the vehicle.
The Mazda driver was taken to hospital with neck and spinal injuries.
The junction was closed while fire crews freed the man, leaving about an hour and a half later.
