Driver rescued from submerged car
A WOMAN trapped in a car in Ufton Nervet floodwaters was rescued by fire crews from four local stations last night (Saturday).
Crew manager of Blue Watch at Tilehurst Fire Station, Steve Hill, said three pumps were called to Ufton Lane at 11pm, from Mortimer, Tilehurst and Whitley Wood, along with the water rescue unit from Caversham Road in Reading.
A woman was found trapped in her car, after rising floodwaters from a stream pushed her car into a ditch, discovered half submerged under water.
Firefighters from the water rescue unit brought the woman to safety, who was shaken and cold, but otherwise unhurt.
Firefighters left the scene after half an hour but have issued a safety warning on the dangers of driving through flood waters, which could also be hiding lifted manhole covers.
