Driver's lucky escape after car hits tree and flips

Air ambulance lands at Mortimer accident

A driver had a lucky escape in Mortimer this afternoon (Mon), after a car was involved in a collision with a tree and flipped over.

Two fire engines, from Mortimer and Whitely Wood, were called at 12.30pm, to the accident in St Catherine's Hill, where firefighters discovered no-one was trapped.

The male driver walked away from the overturned car, after being checked over by ambulance crews, according to firefighters, who made the scene safe, before departing after about half an hour.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) were called at 12.13pm to reports of a collision involving two cars on St Catherine's Hill and sent one ambulance crew, two rapid response vehicles and the air ambulance.

Two people were assessed by paramedics at the scene and one, believed to be a man, was taken to the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital with a possible shoulder injury.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) confirmed they were called to the location at 12.18pm.

The overturned vehicle, a Vauxhall Corsa, was recovered about 1.15pm.

Police closed the road until about 1.40pm.
