Drop-in session running again in Greenham today (Fri)
Until 3pm, representatives from Thames Valley Police, Sovereign Housing, the Newbury neighbourhood wardens and ward member Julian Swift-Hook will be on hand at the cafe, close to Greenham Community Centre in The Nightingales, to answer questions and concerns of local residents.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Newbury and Hungerford, John Donachy, said that police officers would be on hand to reassure residents until around 7pm.
Neighbourhood sgt, Angy Matthews, said: “People are still taking in what’s happened.
“We will be doing high visibility patrols in the area so people can stop and speak to us is they see us wandering around.
“It’s still very early days in the investigation. The main point to get across is this was an isolated event.
“Greenham is a safe place to live but if anybody does wish to speak to us by all means get in contact.”
Neighbourhood warden Andy McIntyre added: “We will speak to anyone, it’s a reassurance.
“The [residents] all know us, they know the police, they are always around and always approachable.
“It’s a good neighbourhood rapport.”
Another drop-in session is likely to be held tomorrow, although this is yet to be confirmed.
People can also get in touch with Thames Valley Police with any concerns on the non-emergency number 101.
